Founded in 2002, The Trans-Atlantic Publishers (TAP) has grown from a small independent publishing house into a respected publisher of academic scholarship and literary works. Over the years, we have built our reputation on an unwavering commitment to quality, intellectual rigor, and creative storytelling.
What began as a vision to support scholars and academics has evolved into a diverse publishing enterprise encompassing scholarly research, academic resources, nonfiction, and fiction. With an international presence across Canada and Northern Europe, TAP brings together knowledge, creativity, and cultural perspectives from different countries and communities.
Our International Branches
TAP operates through a network of publishing branches in four countries, bringing together regional expertise and a shared commitment to academic excellence, literary quality, and the international exchange of ideas.

Our Mission
At TAP, our mission is to publish works that inform, inspire, and challenge. We are driven by a deep passion for scholarly research and creative expression. Our primary focus is to provide exceptional academic books and resources that foster intellectual growth, while also offering a rich selection of nonfiction and fiction that stimulates the imagination.
We aim to create a platform for voices that matter, whether those voices emerge from academic research or creative storytelling.
Academic publishing remains central to our identity. We publish textbooks, research monographs, and scholarly works spanning a wide range of disciplines, from the arts and humanities to the sciences and social sciences. At the same time, we take pride in our diverse catalog of nonfiction and fiction, bringing fresh perspectives to readers with varied interests and backgrounds.
Through this dual focus, we seek to bridge the worlds of academia and literary art, making knowledge accessible and supporting the power of the written word.
Our Vision
Our vision is to be a leading force in academic and literary publishing, recognized for excellence, diversity, and innovation. We envision a world in which academic research and literary works come together to create a rich and dynamic cultural landscape—one where ideas are shared, stories are told with authenticity, and knowledge is accessible to all.
Looking ahead, we are committed to expanding our international reach and publishing groundbreaking works that contribute to intellectual discourse and cultural life. Through our branches in Canada, Finland, Norway, and Sweden, we aspire to strengthen cross-border cooperation and support the next generation of scholars, writers, and thinkers by providing opportunities to share their ideas with the world.
Our Editorial Team
At the heart of TAP is our dedicated editorial team, a group of professionals passionate about publishing and committed to the integrity of every project we undertake. Drawing on diverse academic and literary backgrounds, our team brings the knowledge and experience needed to work across a broad range of subjects and genres.
Our editors collaborate closely with authors at every stage of the publishing process, from manuscript evaluation to final publication. We strive to maintain high editorial standards and provide thoughtful, constructive feedback that helps authors refine and strengthen their work.
Whether developing a scholarly monograph, an academic textbook, a nonfiction title, or a work of fiction, we take a careful and collaborative approach to ensure that each publication meets our standards of quality.
Our Publishing Process
Our publishing process is thorough, collaborative, and tailored to the needs of each individual project. We begin by evaluating manuscripts for their scholarly merit, literary quality, originality, and suitability for publication. Once a manuscript is accepted, our editorial team works closely with the author to refine the content, strengthen clarity and coherence, and prepare the work for publication.
For academic books, this process may include reviewing citations, ensuring adherence to relevant style guides, and incorporating feedback from subject-matter experts where appropriate. For nonfiction and fiction, we focus on developing the narrative, strengthening the author’s voice, and enhancing the overall impact of the work.
Throughout the process, we maintain open communication with authors, keeping them involved and informed at every stage.
We also support our authors beyond the editorial phase. Our publishing services encompass professional design and layout, typesetting, cover design, and preparation for print and digital formats, helping ensure that each book is presented to readers with care and professionalism.
Our Partnerships
Over the years, TAP has sought to build lasting relationships with universities, research institutions, libraries, bookstores, and other publishing professionals. These relationships help extend the reach of our academic and literary works to researchers, students, and general readers.
We value collaboration with academic institutions to support the dissemination of scholarly research, while relationships with independent bookstores and online retailers help make books accessible to a broader public.
We also work with translators, illustrators, designers, and other publishing specialists whose expertise contributes to the success of individual projects. Through these professional relationships and the contributions of our international branches, we aim to support authors throughout the publishing journey and maintain high standards of content and presentation.
Looking Ahead
As we continue to grow and evolve, TAP remains committed to its founding principles: publishing with integrity, nurturing new voices, and producing works of lasting value.
We look forward to developing our catalog, strengthening our international presence, and bringing forward innovative publications that reflect the diversity of ideas, disciplines, and cultural perspectives shaping our world.
At The Trans-Atlantic Publishers, we believe the written word has the power to inspire change, challenge perceptions, and enrich lives. Whether through pioneering academic research or compelling literary works, our purpose is to bring valuable ideas and meaningful stories to readers across Canada, Finland, Norway, Sweden, and beyond.
